Altus Alliance brings a track record from some of the most respected and successful businesses in the World as well as executive experience with many startups. Each partner has 20+ years of success working on new businesses at both large and small companies. having worked as successful executives from Fortune 1000 companies like Accenture, Apple, APL, Dell, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Intel combined with the experience from an impressive list of startups such as Netscape, Onvia, Qpass, Dimension X, Viant, and CitySearch/Sidewalk. The Team works directly with client executives to tap our knowledge and networks. The goal is to optimize decision-making, expand the experience and breadth of the management team and help promising businesses accelerate through the early stages of development.

Altus has broad relationships in the angel, venture capital and corporate communities. Strong contacts exist in the venture world in the Pacific Northwest and Silicon Valley with some of the most respected early and late stage firms. David C. Jones – Partner
Dave was the Founder and Managing Director of Arrigetch Advisors, a venture catalyst in the Northwest since 1998. Dave worked with early stage businesses to accelerate growth, raise capital and increase valuations including; Onvia, Bloomberg Financial, MetroOne, and Netscape. The Investment Forum nominated Arrigetch as the top venture catalyst in the Northwest in 2002. He is a software industry veteran with 22 years experience in a variety of executive management and board positions in both public and private companies.

Dave was SVP, Sales and Marketing at Qpass Inc., the first to deliver a worldwide transaction network for digital content on-demand; SVP Marketing at iCat Corp, an early leader in the Internet catalog software market, acquired by Intel; and as an entrepreneur-in-residence with Hook Partners, a venture capital firm specializing in e-commerce and communications. Earlier on Dave was the VP & GM and company officer at Excalibur Technologies, a public company acquired by Intel that develops and markets media storage and retrieval technologies. From 1988 to 1992 Dave served as the senior marketing executive at Oracle Corporation, responsible for building the worldwide enterprise software business where he helped conceive, initiate and develop Oracle’s leadership position in the enterprise database and applications markets. Early in his career Dave held various sales, marketing and management positions at IBM Corporation throughout the US.

Dave holds a BA in Economics from Lafayette College, and has completed an executive MBA program at Harvard Business School and additional postgraduate financial studies at Stanford. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Cornus Corporation, on the Board of Trustees for the Boy Scouts of America in Seattle, and on the National Board of Advisors for National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

Doug Schulze – Partner
Doug has over 15 years in high-technology markets with both Fortune 50 and startup companies. He has a broad experience base cut from executive positions in marketing, sales, corporate development and as general manager at public companies such as Intel, Loudeye Corp, Convera and private organizations iCat, Optigraphics, Agenesis ThinkTank, RDI Video Systems and CompuMed. While at Intel, Doug chartered the expansion plans into e-commerce managing an acquisition of a segment leader, overseeing the integration and driving the division’s P&L. Responsibilities at Loudeye included the marketing, strategy planning, and the execution of a corporate investment round, successful IPO and follow-on acquisition of 8 expansion M&A transactions. The common theme throughout Doug’s career is the rapid development and deployment of products into emerging markets primarily leveraged through alliances and partnerships with the influential companies that lead the segment. His international experience spans across a variety of high impact sales, partnership and M&A transactions with firms such as IBM, Microsoft, Vivendi, Visa International, AOL, BT, Unisys, Sony, UPS, Amazon.com, CNET, HP, AT&T, and with the leading film studios and record companies.

Doug is degreed in business and marketing management from Cal Poly Pomona and Claremont Colleges where he studied under Peter Drucker and Reed Powell in the campaign to train America’s leading executives on the effectiveness of Japanese management techniques in the mid-eighties. He is also a graduate of Harvard’s Business executive and continuation programs.

Dave Chase – Partner
Dave has been in the software/Internet industry since 1985. Before joining Altus Alliance, Dave spent twelve years at Microsoft in various senior marketing and general management roles, including his role as MSN’s Managing Director for Industry Marketing & Relations where he gained an intimate understanding of the best practices for Interactive Marketing. With some customer segments (e.g., Teens, 18-34 males, Business Decision Makers) spending more of their media time with the Internet than any other medium, it is critical for world-class marketers to adjust their plans of the past to reflect the sea change.

Dave played leadership roles in launching several new businesses within Microsoft including Microsoft’s entry into the enterprise server business which is now a $8 billion dollar business. This included co-leading Microsoft’s first vertical marketing efforts where he grew the Healthcare vertical market from virtually no presence to a market leading position. The healthcare business now represents over $500M in revenue for Microsoft. Later, he was integral in Microsoft’s entry into consumer Internet sites that achieved both critical and business success. Prior to joining Microsoft, Dave was a senior consultant with Accenture consulting to finance, telecommunications and healthcare companies. Dave has also been a successful investor and advisor to several early-stage companies.

Dave has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington with a finance concentration and minor in Mathematics. He is a graduate of Harvard’s & Northwestern’s Business executive and continuation programs. He has also been a partner with Social Venture Partners, Vice Chair for the leading United Way in the country (United Way of King County) and strategic advisor to Climate Solutions (a non-partisan economic development non-profit).

Bill Lawler – Partner
Bill Lawler has over 20 years of experience building and leading organizations for highly successful companies including Dell Computer and Apple Computer.

During his 8 years at Dell, Bill was responsible for leading the Enterprise inside sales organization, directing the Western and Central outside sales organizations, developing and implementing Dell’s Platinum and Global account programs and was the inaugural manager hired to develop the Western US Enterprise territory in 1993.

Prior to joining Dell, Bill spent 5 years at Apple Computer in various capacities including District Manager and Branch Manager positions for Apple’s corporate account segment and value-added resellers. Other experiences include VP and GM for Meritage Technologies, a software development company specializing in enterprise portals, content management, e-commerce and custom web applications for US and European-based Fortune 2000 companies; Western Area Sales Director for Falcon Microsystems, Apple's largest global value-added reseller into commercial aerospace customers and government accounts; and management positions at Wang Laboratories and Burroughs Corporation.

Bill’s expertise and diverse skills include:

negotiating, closing, and delivering large global and enterprise accounts
Organizational Development and Management:
hiring, developing, motivating, planning and leading large organizations to success and excellence.

Bill holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University, and a MBA from Pepperdine University.
